Biography: TSG’s Co-Founder, Jamie Savant, is a seasoned payments professional who has been working with some of the highest regarded processors, financial institutions, large merchants and ISOs since 1983. His business philosophy centers on integrity and commitment to customers.
Jamie started his career at Deluxe Check Printers/Chex Systems, followed by Envoy Corporation, where he sold relationships into Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Card Service International. In the early/mid-90s, he was one of the first to identify and sell new business through, what was then called, “cybermalls” (virtual shopping malls), to clients like Netscape. Like the true “Wild, Wild West” this was a new frontier in the payments industry. In 1997, Savant Co-Founded Humboldt Merchant Services, building the company up to a top 50 U.S. merchant acquirer and, eventually selling it in 2003.
The story continued when Savant partnered with Kurt Strawhecker to create The Strawhecker Group in 2006. While at TSG, Savant employed an entrepreneurial vision with strong business management insight to identify leading industry analytics.
Savant is a third generation Californian, who was born and raised in Whittier and has spent the past 30 years residing in Sacramento. He grew up with Irish and Italian parents, who both instilled wonderful life lessons, matched with many great expressions. One example, “Today is a new day; listen and learn from others and work smart, Savant. If you make a mistake, it is okay; tomorrow is a new opportunity to start again.” He is happily married with three adult children. Savant finds time to indulge in his other passions: family, Lake Tahoe, boat surfing, snow skiing and wine making.
